Road trip to Atlanta for a Stranger Things Experience? Yes please! My family and I are avid fans of the Stranger Things Netflix series, so naturally, we were thrilled to know that it was close by in Atlanta. Since we are RVers and are mobile, this was naturally the perfect weekend getaway paired with the Harry Potter Exhibition, which we cover in another post. We loaded up the motorhome and headed to Atlanta. It was well worth it, and the experience exceeded our expectations! I was initially anticipating an interactive museum with props and sets, but it turned out to be much more than that. Visitors are fully immersed in the show, and the technology used, as well as the acting, were fantastic.
The Cost
I have to admit, the cost of admission was a little worthy of a cringe. We paid a total of $274.20 for two adults and two children, including a $29.20 booking fee. Fortunately, we were able to use a voucher code I found online that provided us with a discount of $7.00. After attending, I can say it was worth the cost. Keep in mind the sets are elaborate with talented actors, and special effects involved in creating the immersive experience. It is worth noting that prices may vary depending on the location and time of year, so it is best to check the official website or contact the event directly for the latest ticket prices, location, and availability. Although there is a VIP option available, the actual experience is the same for all attendees. At the end of the event, VIP ticketholders receive a few exclusive items. We found the VIP table and we are glad we didn’t pay extra for this. We didn’t see where the value from the added fee.

Stranger Things Experience immerses you in the world of your beloved show, where you can team up with Eleven, Dustin, Mike, Lucas, Max, and Will for a one-of-a-kind episode where you take center stage. We decided to give this as a Christmas gift along with the aforementioned Potter Exhibition in Atlanta. I must say this was one of the coolest things we have done related to a TV show in quite some time! We had an amazing time, although we would have loved it if the experience could have lasted a bit longer. It felt like being transported to an immersive escape room that you would find at an amusement park.
The Storyline
The adventure starts by delving into Hawkins Lab and experiencing a new, captivating storyline. You’re greeted by actors who portray Hawkins lab employees – the same place where Eleven was once held captive and studied by the nefarious Dr. Brenner. These actors will guide you through the facility as part of a “sleep study,” where strange things may begin to unfold. It’s a truly unique experience that allows you to feel like you’re a part of the show’s storyline, complete with authentic sets, special effects, and talented actors who bring the world of Hawkins to life. Without spoiling, everyone is a assigned a superpower and must work together to survive! It is important to note that no photography or filming is allowed during the experience, so make sure to put your phone away. Set aside about 2 ½ hours for the entire afternoon of the Stranger Thins Experience.
Mix Tape Area
After you’re done with your thrilling Hawkins Lab experience, get ready for another blast from the past as you step into the neon world of Mix-Tape. Take a trip back in time to the 80s and indulge in scrumptious food and drinks that pay tribute to the decade. Gorge yourself on the delights of the throwback cuisine while fun photo op sessions and lively party vibes. You’ll also have the chance to explore nostalgic shops and iconic locations from the show, including the famous Scoops Ahoy. Munch on Surfer Boy Pizza (or, you can just get a whole pizza at Wal-Mart for the price of a slice and a half). Admittedly, we got the kids a slice of pizza and ice cream. After all, this was for them. Mom and Dad had a bite. There is even a bar with exclusive cocktails and inspired by the series. We didn’t partake in an adult beverage. And when it comes to photo ops, you’re spoiled for choice- Pose in the Byers’ living room or with Vecna, or enter an 80s-style photo booth to snap some shots that will keep the memories alive for years to come. Of course there are multiple areas to spend money on gifts. We did buy a 3D poster and the kids got some Hellfire Club cups.
The Cons
In terms of the negatives, there was some difficulty hearing the actors at times. To be fair, the experience is set up in an open warehouse without ceilings, which causes sound to spill over from one room to another. For example, you can hear loud booms from different parts of the experience. The 80s music in the mix tape area was also very loud. Regarding the gift shops, while the food and merchandise may be expensive, visitors are not required to purchase anything to enjoy the experience.
Conclusion
I highly recommend this experience for any fan of the show or the 80s. It is essential to fully participate and make the most of it, even if it feels uncomfortable at first. I was, but once I got into it, I had a blast! Your experience will be what you make of it. All in all, the Stranger Things Experience is an excellent getaway for enthusiastic fans of the show. The vivid sets, talented actors, and immersive storyline all work together seamlessly to create a thrilling adventure. Although the cost of admission may seem steep, it is worth it for the one-of-a-kind experience offered. The Mix-Tape area is a fantastic addition, allowing visitors to continue their journey through the 80s with delightful food, great photo opportunities, and a nostalgic ambiance. With such an unforgettable experience, it is no surprise that the Stranger Things Experience has become a prime destination for TV show enthusiasts.
