Talona Ridge RV Resort is a beautiful luxury RV resort located in the heart of Ellijay, Georgia. If you’re looking for a place to relax and just kick back for a weekend or even a long trip, Talona Ridge might just be the place for you, and why we decided to write this Talona Ridge RV Resort Review after we visited the resort. The resort does not discriminate on rig types like other resorts of this caliber do, which is nice. The resort has a variety of camping options that include full RV hookups on various levels of the resort, it’s on a ridge after all. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy, from enjoying the Grandview Hall, and swimming in the heated pool, to playing on the pickleball court.

Arriving at Talona Ridge RV Resort

The staff is friendly and welcoming as we pulled our 43-foot rig with a tow vehicle in for check-in. The good news is there is plenty of space if you have a larger RV with the tow vehicle. The front desk staff greeted us with a smile and provided us with a welcome package. Staff took the time to  explain the policies and procedures around the resort.

After our check-in process was complete, we were provided a host who escorted us to our pull-in site (this was the first time we have been to a pull-in). Once we got set up, I noticed a golf cart driving around with a cocktail flag, and that immediately piqued my curiosity. When the ladies made it around to our site, we found out that they were serving beer and margaritas (not included, of course). I happily purchased two for us along with a craft beer.  The cost was $16, and I say that’s not bad for front-door adult beverage service!

RV Sites at Talona Ridge RV Resort

Talona Ridge RV Resort is gated, and you need a key card to get in, which adds a level of safety and security that not many RV resorts offer. We were on a mid-ridge and had a pull in site at a cost of around $110 per night. This is not the cheapest option to RV in Ellijay, but the resort itself is beautiful with really nice amenities that make it worth the expense, and a fantastic view out of our front windshield. I have to say in fairness we were at the resort during a busy weekend in October, so the prices may fluctuate depending on when you visit.

Level and Paved Sites

The entire resort including all the sites is paved and most are level, except for those on the top of the ridge. We noticed some had very steep inclines and may take a little bit of work to get your rig or trailer level. The water pressure was excellent as well as the location of all hookups. It took less than 10 minutes to get situated before the arrival of our aforementioned beverage delivery.

The RV sites at Talona Ridge are new and very well-manicured. Each site has a concrete pad, picnic table, and fire ring, as well as 50-amp and 30-amp power connections. The sites also come with sewer, water, and free wifi availability. All the sites offer good spacing between them giving you plenty of privacy for your stay. The sites are advertised as oversized and big rig friendly, and we agree. Our motorhome is a 43ft tag axle and we tow a full-sized F-150. Both the RV and our tow vehicle easily fit into the site with no space issues whatsoever. The resort even offers limited buddy sites, which is great if you are traveling with friends and multiple RVs. The Falcon Ridge sites offer wooden decks and gas-powered fireplaces.

Talona Ridge RV Resort Amenities

This would not be a proper Talona Ridge RV Resort review without mentioning amenities, and the resort offers a wide variety of features to make your stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Heated Pool and Spa

The heated pool and hot tub at Talona Ridge RV Resort are an absolute pleasure to relax in! The resort’s pool is close to an Olympic-sized outdoor pool, offering plenty of room for swimming laps or just lounging around. It’s heated to a comfortable temperature year round so you can enjoy swimming in the summertime or take a dip during the cooler months. The pools may not necessarily be warm enough in the colder Georgia mountains winter, although the resort says polar plunges are not discouraged! The heated pool also comes with a large hot tub that is perfect for those chilly evenings when you want to relax and unwind.

Grandview Hall

Grandview Hall at Talona Ridge RV Resort is a large, elegant event space that can accommodate any type of gathering from weddings and receptions to corporate meetings. Featuring modern decor, chandeliers, and plenty of natural light, Grandview Hall provides the perfect backdrop for your special occasion. The hall also offers two separate wings that can be used to host multiple activities or events at once. The Grandview Hall boasts many amenities that make it an ideal venue for a variety of events. It has a custom audio/video system with surround sound, as well as large projection screens for displaying presentations or videos. In addition to these features, the hall is also equipped with a state-of-the-art stage lighting system and a full bar service with signature drinks and craft beer selections.

Outdoor Activities at Grandview Hall

For those who prefer outdoor activities and events, there is an expansive terrace area outside of Grandview Hall that has spectacular views of the surrounding mountainside and valley. This terrace area includes comfortable seating areas, bistro tables, fire pits, and outdoor lights which adds to its alluring ambiance. Additionally, the terrace offers direct access to Talona Ridge’s beautiful pool and hot tub area which provides additional entertainment options for guests.

Weekend entertainment is held here, and although we didn’t go, we could hear the live music from our site below the hall. If you’re looking for some extra pampering, they even have an outdoor fire pit for enjoying s’mores under the stars or roasting marshmallows over an open flame.

Bathrooms and Shower Houses

There is no shortage of bathrooms or showers either; the resort has clean and well-stocked bathrooms with showers sprinkled around the resort and near the pool area.

Children are welcome to play in the resort, including on bicycles and scooters. There is also a well furnished weight room and pickleball courts. There are also yard/camping games available such as bean bag toss available for guests.

All outdoor areas at Talona Ridge RV Resort are equipped with waste disposal bags and trash cans for easy cleanup after walks or playtime outdoors. The resort also provides convenient dog washing stations located on the grounds so you can make sure your pup stays clean during their stay. They even offer free treats at the front desk so your pup can enjoy some delicious snacks while they’re here!

The staff at Talona Ridge RV Resort is always happy to help with any questions or concerns about bringing along a furry family member on vacation—they understand how special it is to be able to bring them along! All dogs must be registered with the front desk when checking in—this includes providing proof of vaccination records as well as a valid license number if requested. Guests are asked to keep all pets on leashes when visiting common areas within the resort such as the fitness center or clubhouse.

The Ambiance of Talona Ridge RV Resort

Talona Ridge RV Resort also offers firewood for sale with complimentary firewood delivery to your site. As we settled in for the night, we decided to start a fire in the metal fire bowl that is provided, and as the light of the day faded away, we noticed the spectacular lighting around the resort that is on each site around the roads and the gates. I didn’t get a picture of it, but this is the first I’ve seen color-changing LED and it was something that was a very cool added feature to the resort.

talona ridge rv resort site decorations

Since we were at Talona Ridge in October, many RV’ers had their sites decorated for Halloween. It was a lot of fun to take a walk around the resort and have a what we thought was best of best contest…we took a family vote and the site in the photo above was our choice, but there was a lot of cool other ones! I inspired us to start decorating when we camp in October starting next year.

Location

The resort is centrally located and near many chain restaurants and shopping (including Wal-Mart), which are less than a 5-minute drive. For rainy days there is even a movie theatre if you want to get out of the RV for a couple of hours.

Cell Phone Reception

Cell phone reception at the resort for us was excellent, we have T-Mobile and had no issue receiving 5G service. As were checked in, the host mentioned the wi-fi may be slow since there was only one internet provider in town and more than 70,000 people were expected to visit Ellijay during apple festival weekends. We didn’t even attempt to use the wi-fi so I won’t comment on it here. You will have to go check out the resort and see for yourself!

Are there any negatives about Talona Ridge RV Resort?

If someone asked me what I didn’t like about our trip for this Talona Ridge RV Resort review and I had to pick something, it would be that it is located off a rather busy road with a lot of road noise. We sat in front of our rig each night watching the sunset with a glass of wine, and the road noise kind of spoiled that ambiance. It’s not a deal killer, but the noise and traffic are noticeable.
